Secondary DNS & The Business Network

You've worked hard to make sure that your network is stable and secure. There is no single point of failure that could disable your network…except perhaps DNS.

SecondaryDNS service creates more redundancy in your network simply and easily with only a slight modification to existing DNS management practices. Having a third party host DNS on a completely separate network keeps the corporate internet presence alive even if the primary DNS server goes down.

By allowing SecondaryDNS.com to support existing DNS service, you won't lose control of the company zone files and you'll gain speed and redundancy. All zone changes and updates are made as usual on the primary server. These changes are then automatically transferred to our servers using the AXFR zone transfer protocol.

SecondaryDNS.com's service is based on proprietary non-BIND software and deployed on our global mesh of servers. By utilizing IP Anycast routing, the SecondaryDNS.com servers are represented as two IP addresses, but these provide access to our entire global mesh.

In the case of a primary name server outage, the second recursive server query will be directed to the SecondaryDNS.com servers. Our intelligent routing capability will send the query to the closest possible server for resolution. This will speed the resolution time and reduce the chance of query timeouts.
